While many sample packs choose to focus on conventional club sounds, isorhythm's first sample pack looked to expand the sonic palette of today's music producer. The isorhythm Spring Pack is entirely based on field recordings made on the first warm spring day we had of 2011 in upstate New York. Included are numerous sounds found in nature, as well as a number of processed sounds built out of the field recordings. The processed samples were achieved using a number of sound design programs such as CSound, Reaktor, Metasynth and others. The raw sounds are provided because of how interesting they are before they are even processed! The difference in every one of the raw recordings, albeit often similar as well, is why there are many variations of the same sound. While it's very possible to build a piece of music entirely out of just these samples alone, the real intention of them is to use along side samples you already own. All of the samples here were created using ONLY the field recordings, with the exception of a sine wave added to some of the kicks. Think of it like salt or pepper: they may be great on their own, but they truly shine when used to enhance something else. For instance, the tree bark crackles are especially great to layer underneath snares and claps to give a great crackly decay. There are Battery and EXS kits provided for those of you who like to quickly rifle through sounds via a sampler, as well as 3 custom battery kits used in some of the sound design of the processed samples as well.
